Rani brings over 30 years of experience as an executive in energy and infrastructure investment banking and in corporate treasury functions. Prior to joining Active, Rani was a Partner at Madison Sixty Capital, where he oversaw the global growth initiatives of the firm’s advisory platform and worked with asset allocators and institutional investors in structuring direct investments as well as transactions throughout the private credit vertical. He has prior experience as the Sr. Managing Direct & Head of Investment Banking at Noble Capital Markets where he oversaw coverage of over 115 issuers in the energy, infrastructure, industrials, and TMT sectors.

After starting off his career on Wall Street, Rani spent nearly two decades in the Middle East establishing and expanding the NBK Capital Investment Banking platform at the National Bank of Kuwait, leading a deal volume of $150bn across the MENA region during his tenure. His leadership proved critical in the wake of the global financial crisis of 2008, two years after he worked to establish the platform, and again in 2011 during the Arab Spring, where he helped guide the strategy and fostered key institutional relationships to not only stay afloat through those immense challenges but to eventually grow into a market leader. He also served as the Chairman of the Deal Origination Committee during his time there.

Rani started his career on Wall Street, with prior roles as the Assistant Treasurer at The Bank of New York Mellon and as a Vice President for Corporate Fuel Advisors, an investment bank.

He has been a featured commentator on Reuters, CNBC Arabia, and Bloomberg News networks. He holds an MBA from Fordham University and a BS in Finance & Marketing from NYU.
